Art on Film: Fine Art Short Films from Wapikoni
Artists : Raymond Caplin (Mi’gmaq), Craig Commanda (Anishinaabe), Kevin Papatie (Anishinaabe), Kijâtai-Alexandra Veillette-Cheezo (Anishinaabe).
Shé:kon Gallery is proud to present the work of four emerging Indigenous filmmakers. We believe that the stories of Indigenous people are important, and that it’s our responsibility to make sure these stories are heard and seen by as many people as possible. We hope you enjoy this collection of short films from some of our most talented young directors! Produced by Wapikoni, these videos are presented in conjunction with 41st edition of the International Festival of Films on Art (FIFA). Wakiponi ambassadors and artists will be present for the opening.
Wapikoni is a non-profit organization founded in 2004. Wapikoni is involved in mediation, intervention, training and audiovisual creation for Indigenous youth.
We would like to thank the Conseil des arts du Canada, the Conseil des arts de Montréal, and the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec for their generous support towards Shé:kon Gallery – a space dedicated to emerging Indigenous artists and curators from Québec.
